LUCY THE DOG

Mark is a salesman for Lucy The Dog, an internet pet store. He regularly visits small country stores to top up their stock and introduce new products.

He used to use maps and follow road signs but, often, the signs just stopped or he missed a turning or he was facing the wrong way or he seemed to be nowhere in particular. And usually arrived late.

Now, he has his notebook computer on the front seat and his GPS receiver on the dash. When he gets lost, he pulls over and checks his location on the map.

Often, he just types in the specific address or the general location and lets AutoRoute find the way. It's very easy, and he can change the chosen route or add intermediate destinations.

He often stays in B+B farmhouses in remote areas. Before taking Lucy for a walk, he has a look at the GPS map to locate nearby lanes, rivers, parks, and other features.

It's also proved very useful on holiday, particularly at night in the country. His girlfriend, Melia, has the computer on her lap and guides him. It's much easier than trying to use a torch and a map, especially as the map doesn't show all the minor roads.
